Pipe Bursting & Pipe Lining: Two Trenchless Methods

Pipe Bursting

Pipe bursting pulls a new pipe through the old one, fracturing the damaged pipe outward and leaving the replacement line in its place. It requires only two small access points and works well for pipes that have collapsed, cracked, or deteriorated beyond repair. This method is commonly used on older clay and cast iron pipes, which are typical in San Bernardino-area homes built in the 1960s and earlier.

Pipe Lining (CIPP)

Cured-in-place pipe lining, or CIPP, inserts a resin-coated flexible liner into the existing pipe, which cures in place to form a new pipe within the old one. It’s suited for pipes that still hold their basic shape but have cracked joints, corrosion damage, or root intrusion. The resulting pipe can resist future root penetration, corrosion, and chemical damage.
